其实我更加愿意称之为平板设备(tablet device)。对于这一产品的期待，使得我在过去的半年多当中压抑了自己的欲望，没有买Apple MacBook Pro 17′，也没有买新一代的Kindle。尤其是后者，发布以来一直让我蠢蠢欲动，因为用来读电子书实在是太方便了。但是因为等待苹果的这一款传闻已久的产品，结果只能在iPhone那小得可怜的屏幕上读书，在过去的半年中先后看完了《三国演义》和《水浒》，英文的小说也看了两本，真是不由得佩服自己。 我唯一的一台平板电脑是2005年初买的IBM（好吧，现在是联想的了）的X41 Tablet，说实话，没有什么意义，尽管我承认这已经是业内最好的Tablet了。对于苹果的设计，最吸引我的一个特点是intuitive。之前所有的平板都没能做到这点，拿着一支stylus，但是并没有真正书写的感觉，那么平板又有什么意义呢？X41 Tablet用了不到一年，觉得比一般笔记本电脑好的地方，一是可以随时把屏幕转过去给坐在旁边或者对面的人看，一是半躺在床上或者沙发上的时候可以把电脑翻转后合起来放在膝盖上看视频。除此别无惊喜。后来嫌它速度太慢就换了15′的T61p。根据近几个月来各技术网站的报道，苹果的这款平板设备应该会像iPhone那样reinvent the tablet device，希望不要让我失望。 对于这个神秘的产品，现在有很多不靠谱的所谓内幕，包括著名的Kaufman Bros的分析师Shaw Wu声称的不同屏幕大小的tablet。但是我觉得真正分析到位的是下面这篇评论。可惜其中讨论了这一设备和Apple TV的关系，可惜我那买了多年屡次破解但并没有好好用的Apple TV。 Switched On: The iPad could succeed Apple TV by Ross Rubin posted Aug 4th 2009 at 5:35PM Ross Rubin (@rossrubin) contributes Switched On, a column about consumer technology.
