How do I apply? =
You may apply either online using =
the Common=20
Application and Lehigh Supplement or by downloading the Common =
Application and=20
Lehigh Supplement and mailing it to us. The Common Application can be =
accessed=20
at
CommonApp.Org.
The cost to submit an application is USD $70.00. You may request a =
fee waiver=20
by submitting a letter with your application explaining why you are =
requesting=20
the waiver accompanied by a letter of support from your secondary school =
college/guidance counselor.
What are the application=20
requirements?
Applicants must be completing or =
have=20
completed the equivalent of 12 years of education (primary and =
secondary) or the=20
program of study that leaves them eligible for admission to =
university-level=20
study in the educational system in which they are enrolled. For example, =
students who are completing or who have only completed O level, =
GCSE/IGCSE, SMP,=20
or HKCEE study are not eligible to apply and should do so when they are=20
completing the final year of A level study, or the equivalent. =
We=20
require that you submit a 3-year secondary school transcript (a record =
of=20
courses taken and marks received in your classes from the 2005-2006, =
2006-2007,=20
and 2007-2008 academic years) as well as a record of the courses you are =
taking=20
during your final year of secondary school (2008-2009). It is the =
applicant=E2=80=99s=20
responsibility to make arrangements for official transcripts to be sent =
to the=20
Lehigh Admissions Office. Emailed and photocopied transcripts are not =
official=20
and will not be accepted.
You must also submit the results of =
the=20
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or the ACT and the results of the Test =
of=20
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English =
Language=20
Testing System (IELTS). The TOEFL or IELTS is required if English is not =
your=20
first language. The TOEFL requirement is waived for any applicant who =
earns a=20
score of 570 or higher on the SAT I Critical Reading examination. SAT =
IIs in any=20
subjects are recommended but not required. All test requirements must be =
completed by December to insure that we receive the official results in =
time to=20
review your application. The scores of exams taken after January 1 may =
not be=20
received in time to be considered when applications are reviewed by the=20
Admissions Committee. Emailed and photocopied scores are not official =
and will=20
not be accepted.
A complete application must also include a=20
university/guidance counselor recommendation and a teacher =
recommendation. If=20
there is no guidance counselor at your high school, please have the =
principal,=20
headmaster, head tutor or some other school official who has been =
closely=20
supervising or monitoring your secondary school studies write a =
recommendation=20
instead. If the guidance counselor or teacher recommendation is not =
written in=20
English, a certified translation must be provided.
You must =
provide a=20
personal statement and information about extracurricular activities, =
special=20
talents, and activities outside of academics.
Financial documents =
are=20
required at the time of application.
PLEASE NOTE: The complete=20
application should be sent all together to the Office of Admissions. We=20
encourage you to submit your complete application as early as possible =
in order=20
to avoid any postal delays.
What is Lehigh's TOEFL or =
IELTS=20
requirement?
The Admissions Committee recommends =
a TOEFL=20
score of 90 or above on the Internet-based test, 230 or above for the=20
computer-based test or 570 or above for the paper-based test. The =
International=20
English Language Testing System (IELTS) is also acceptable. A score of 7 =
or=20
higher is preferred. Although we do not require students with an SAT I =
Verbal=20
score of 570 or higher to submit TOEFL test results, we STRONGLY =
recommend that=20
all students whose first language is not English take this exam.=20
Academically strong students whose TOEFL scores are slightly =
below=20
Lehigh's recommended scores may be considered for admission on a =
conditional=20
basis. Conditional admission entails successful completion of the =
seven-week=20
intensive
English as a =
Second=20
Language program (StepUp).

Does Lehigh offer =
financial aid for=20
international students?
Lehigh does offer financial aid to=20
international students on a very limited basis. This means that the =
competition=20
for financial aid is very keen. In evaluating students for aid, we look =
at a=20
combination of the student's academic/extracurricular achievements and =
the=20
student/family need for financial assistance. Therefore, our financial =
aid is a=20
combination of merit and need-based aid. The amount of financial aid a =
student=20
receives is determined on an individual basis and it is not possible to =
estimate=20
a financial aid package until Lehigh has received the complete =
admissions and=20
financial aid applications.
In order to apply for International Student Financial Aid, you must =
complete=20
both of the following forms: the International Student Financial Aid =
Application=20
and the International Student Certification of Finances. Students =
not=20
wishing to apply for financial aid must submit the International Student =
Certification of Finances. The applications of =
international=20
students will be considered incomplete until these forms are received by =
the=20
Office of Admissions.
How can I send the results =
of my SAT=20
and TOEFL examinations to Lehigh?
You should indicate Lehigh as a =
recipient=20
institution for your scores when you register for the exams. Our =
institutional=20
code number is 2365.
Your secondary school college/guidance =
counselor=20
may send us attested or certified copies of the test results. These =
results must=20
include the school stamp/seal and an official school signature in order =
to be=20
accepted by Lehigh.
PHOTOCOPIES, FAXED COPIES AND EMAILS WITH =
TEST SCORES=20
ARE NOT OFFICIAL AND WILL NOT BE MADE PART OF AN APPLICANT'S ADMISSION=20
FILE.
You should also be consistent with the spelling and =
sequence of=20
your family/surname and given names when registering for these =
standardized=20
exams and completing the application. We recommend that on all =
application=20
materials you provide your name as printed on your passport. Differences =
in the=20
spelling or sequence of your names may delay the receipt of your test =
scores and=20
the review of your application.
Can I receive advanced =
placement or=20
credit for coursework I complete while in secondary school? =
Lehigh grants advanced placement and =
credit=20
for Advanced Placement (AP) examinations completed with a score of 4 or =
5; for=20
International Baccalaureate Higher-Level examinations completed with a =
score of=20
5, 6, or 7 (except for IB HL Physics, which requires a score of 6 or 7); =
and for=20
Advanced Level (A Level) examinations completed with a score of A or B.=20
Lehigh grants advanced placement and credit for the SAT II =
