APPLYING FOR ADMISSION
2008 is the first year Notre Dame will accept the Common Application. = Students living abroad may apply at www.commonapp.org or through our = website.=20 Please note that the application deadline is December 31st, 2008. REQUIRED EXAMINATIONS
All applicants must submit results of the SAT = I:=20 Reasoning Test or the ACT Assessment. In = addition,=20 students whose native language is not English must take the Test of = English as a=20 Foreign Language (TOEFL).
SAT I or ACT = =E2=80=93 standardized=20 university entrance examinations that measure verbal and mathematical = skills.=20 Because of our admission schedule, the SAT I = or ACT should be taken prior to January of the year the = student=20 intends to enroll. To receive the SAT I = registration=20 bulletin, students should visit http://www.collegeboard.com/splash/. (See a listing = of SAT test dates here.) The registration materials for = the ACT are available at http://www.act.org/. Please contact the nearest U.S. = Embassy=20 for a list of testing centers, their locations, and exam schedule. We = advise=20 students to take the SAT or ACT=20 exam at least twice.

This examination must be taken prior to January of the year the = student=20 intends to enroll. The TOEFL Bulletin provides = information and registration forms for the test. DEADLINES
There are two seasons to which to apply to Notre Dame, Early Action = with a=20 deadline of November 1st and Regular Action with a deadline of December = 31st.=20 Those students that apply Early Action will be notified of our decision = by=20 Christmas and those who apply Regular Action will be notified the first = week of=20 April. Please note that applying Early Action does not show more = interest in=20 Notre Dame and it is a more selective applicant pool. If you have any = questions=20 as to which season to apply, please feel free to contact us.
Applicants seeking international financial aid (non-US = Citizens/Permanent=20 Residents) who apply Early Action will automatically be deferred to our = Regular=20 Action pool as the International Scholarship Committee does not meet = until the=20 first week of March.
Students living abroad may apply through our paper application or = online.=20 Mailed documents should be sent by courier service to ensure a timely=20 arrival.

OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS TO ENTER THE UNITED=20 STATES
International students who are admitted to Notre Dame will be sent = the Form=20 I-20, the official application for student visa (F-1) status. Click here for = visa=20 information.
Before the I-20 can be sent, however, the student must demonstrate = sufficient=20 financial support covering all four years of the cost of attendance = towards a=20 Notre Dame education. Therefore, it is necessary that proper financial=20 documentation be on file. Students must submit the Certification of = Finances=20 along with the International Student Financial Aid Application (where=20 applicable) within their application for admission.
