In addition to the two required essays, some applicants choose to = submit a=20 response to Essay C. Essay C is optional and cannot be submitted in = place of a=20 required essay.
Students submitting Essay C do so in order to submit additional = information=20 to the university about special circumstances, such as socio-economic = standing;=20 educational goals; cultural background; employment, internships, etc.; = race or=20 ethnicity; personal experiences and hardships; personal = responsibilities; and=20 any additional information submitted by the applicant.
As an international applicant you are encouraged to submit a = response=20 to Essay C in order to provide additional information to the = Office of=20 Admissions about your goals, what drew you to the major that = you=E2=80=99ve requested,=20 and why you=E2=80=99ve chosen to apply to UT Austin.
There may be personal information that you want considered as part of = your=20 admissions application. Write an essay describing that information. You = might=20 include exceptional hardships, challenges, or opportunities that have = shaped or=20 impacted your abilities or academic credentials, personal = responsibilities,=20 exceptional achievements or talents, educational goals, or ways in which = you=20 might contribute to an institution committed to creating a diverse = learning=20 environment.
The best admissions essays are written using a = process=E2=80=94drafting them in a=20 word processor and editing them until they reflect your best response to = the=20 topic. Composing your essays in this manner also means that you will = have a copy=20 of your work for future reference.

Essays that are mailed are processed individually before being = scanned and=20 loaded onto our system; it can take two or more weeks for mailed essays = to=20 appear in Status Check, especially as the deadline approaches. =
Essays should not be submitted by e-mail. If you submit your essays = by=20 e-mail, they will be discarded.
By reviewing requirements for your major choices, scholarships, and = programs,=20 you may be able to keep the number of essays you write to a minimum = while=20 satisfying admission and other requirements.
If you=E2=80=99re writing your essays to fulfill your admission = requirements only,=20 you should try to keep them no longer than one page (single-spaced). If = you plan=20 to use your essays to fulfill admission and scholarship or honors = requirements,=20 follow the length guidelines specified by the individual program.=20
Spend plenty of time writing and fine-tuning your essays, and ask for = feedback from people you trust before submitting your = essays.
