An international student is an applicant who is not a United States = citizen=20 or permanent resident and plans to attend a college, university, or = other=20 post-secondary education institution in the U.S. This includes = applicants=20 that hold U.S. visas as students, exchange visitors, or other = nonimmigrant=20 classifications.
International students who have not completed any college credit = after=20 completing secondary school should apply as a freshman.
All applicants to the University of Washington Bothell must = successfully=20 complete the minimum core subject requirements in order to receive = admission=20 consideration.
All international freshmen applicants must provide proof of English=20 proficiency by providing scores that meet the University's minimum on = one of the=20 following exams:

The University of Washington Bothell has partnered with the = University of=20 Washington Seattle English = Language=20 Programs to offer a conditional admissions program for freshman = pursuing an undergraduate degree at UW Bothell. This program is = for=20 students who do not meet the minimum English Proficiency requirement(s) = for=20 admission, but are otherwise admissible.
A minimum grade of 80 percent is required in each course and students =
must=20
obtain a recommendation from the Director of the UW Seattle English =
Language=20
Program. After successful completion of the UW Seattle =
Intensive=20
English Program requirements, applicants do not have to submit =
TOEFL,=20
IELTS, or other standardized test scores as proof of language =
proficiency to UW=20
Bothell.
OR
Completion of a minimum of four years of high school =
English in=20
the United States with grades of 3.0 or higher and a minimum SAT =
critical=20
reading score of 500 or an ACT English score of 22.
OR
Complete a Direct Transfer Agreement/Associate of Arts Degree with a = minimum=20 grade of 3.0 in both English Composition (Eng 131) and Writing from = Research=20 (Eng 182) from a community college in Washington State and have earned a = minimum=20 of a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
Exception: Non-U.S. citizens whose primary=20 and secondary education took place in = Australia,=20 Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, or the U.S. are exempt from = this=20 requirement. Students who were born in one of these countries but were = educated=20 elsewhere, will still be required to satisfy the English proficiency=20 requirement.
Effective April 1, 2009, the UW Bothell Office of Admissions is = providing the=20 service of international transcript evaluations. Upon request, = applicants=20 may be required to obtain a third party evaluation from an approved=20 agency. It is the responsibility of the applicant to arrange for = the third=20 party transcript evaluation, if required.
